Kuwait Signs a Treaty For Avoidance of Double Taxation with UAE

On 30 August 2022, the Ministry of Finance in Kuwait announced that the State of Kuwait has recently signed a treaty for the avoidance of double taxation (“the tax treaty”) with the United Arab Emirates
(“UAE”). The tax treaty aims to increase the tax cooperation between the two countries and to help in creating a more secure investment environment.
The tax treaty is an important development in the economic relationship between Kuwait and the UAE. It should come as a welcome news for entities operating across the two countries, especially after the proposed the introduction of corporate tax in the UAE starting from financial period beginning 1 June 2023.
This is the first tax treaty that Kuwait signs with a GCC country. The tax treaty is yet to enter into force. We will update you on the key provisions of the tax treaty as soon as we obtain a signed version of the treaty. In the meantime, please feel free to contact us should you have any questions.
